Bonobo - Black Sands on Ninja Tune

Bonobo's been one of my favorites since i first heard him. my homey Butter told me about him... simply said that he was "amazing". since Butter has great taste i picked up two Bonobo records, Animal Magic and Dial M for Monkey from Reckless upon seeing them, took them home and was blown away. it hit's someplace deep. it evokes emotion that is rare and mostly non-present in popular music.
His last album Days to Come featured one of my favorite singers Bajka, on which she sang the title cut, one of my favorites that i still play regularly. even made it's way onto one of my mixtapes. Black Sands enlists the help of Andreya Triana, the singer that was introduced to the world on Flying Lotus' popular "Tea Leaf Dancers". she sings on three tracks, including the first single "The Keeper" (the 12" has a lovely drum and bass remix... cop that!), and the second single "Eyesdown", which is sort of an ethereal uptempo, but mellow dubstep joint ala Burial or Floating Points (who did a remix of the song).
the album is incredible! it's one of those things where, even though i got a digital promo, i'm still buying that joint on wax!
Bonobo will be in Chicago on April 1st, doing a live set with the full band (and hopefully Andreya Triana... she was with them last time! check their version of "Tea Leaf Dancers"... i wish they'd release it!) at The Metro, and doing an after set DJing downstairs at Smart Bar. $21 for both! cop tickets here: http://www.metrochicago.com/shows/
